IFS Surf and diff locker

Post by shelooner »

Hi, If I have a IFS surf and was looking at putting a locker (say an automatic one) in, and later wanted to do a beam axle conversion, is the locker going to transfer over? or will that be my pocket getting thrashed twice over?

cheers.

You obviously mean a locker in the front, The IFS and Solid Axle versions are different :(

Mig the IFS for now and when it blows do the axle conversion

As Mike said, don't pay twice... just weld it up (fit manual locking hubs first if you haven't got them already - you don't want the hubs engaging accidentally with a locked diff) and then fit the locker when you go to a solid axle.

cheers for replying, yes i mean locker in front, to answer the origional question will it convert over? got manual hubs after a fuk around from the num skull salesman at fully equipped not selling me a full kit when asked to supply everything to convert from auto to manual. I won't be shopping there again.

As Mike said, no it won't convert over. The IFS locker and the beam axle locker are different sizes (7.5" vs. 8" in a solid axle).

Hope that clears that one up for you... this is why we were saying to bodge it until you do the conversion. Unless you have $1300ish spare, in which case buy one of each... they are around $650 each.
