Snorkle hose wearing out fast
Snorkle hose wearing out fast
I bought a airflow snorkle for my 70 series and installed it about a month ago, but the flexable hose that was provided is already worn through the outer layer of the plastic and down to the metel that is inside the ribbing of the hose. I have tryed cable tieing it down to hold it secure and tryed putting rubber around it, its not the best though. It isnt a life or death issue, but im thinking of replaceing it with some more durable hose? Any ideas on where to buy good tough flexable hose in Christchurch? Or any other suggestions? Cheers
I dont know but I would be interested too. My snorkel caught on fire when one of the metal rings came loose and wore through some wiring. I am thinking about rotating my airbox in my truck and re welding the mounts to the body for the Airbox. So that the I only need about 200mm of pipe. Apart from that I am using a bike tube to keep it in place and not vibrate over anything bad.
its a pretty tough call really. you need a hose suitable for under bonnet temps and that knocks out 90% of all hoses. if you can establish a good path for the hose to run without rubbing on anything it would help, as hoses with nice high temp ratings tend to be made of soft material.
blackwoods do a a product called TPR Duct , its nice and cheap, handles under bonnet temps and bends round a tight radius. downside is its pretty thin . ive had a piece under the bonnet of my safari linking the aircleaner to the snorkel and its holding up real nice
p.s i used to work for blackwoods so you could also try Hose and coupling distributors or an enzed shop too
