3-4 november

Post by skid »

it looks like its fallen on me to start this thread again.

got off work at 3pm and went to help Klem set up a display for the local Mens Day Out event.

then we went and drove the track we are going to use for paying rides.

we had a bobcat digging some holes and an axle twister whilst I was attempting to roll Orange on its side in a drain

managed to get stuck and had to get the bobcat to push me out. should be fun and the public should enjoy it and get a better understanding of what we get up to. 8)

awesome start to the weekend.

have to drive to wanganui for round 2 of the national trials series tomorrow and back home on sunday evening after the trial.

sweeeeet

8) 8) 8) 8)

Just don't wear that T shirt and people may say Hi, it still fits right?

Good luck and the 4wd would be better than the Quad, dont get it stuck.

Love the photo comparison im the movember thread.

Spent $400 on the Suzuki on Thursday, was having a weird fuel starving problem, took it into Suzuki who read the computers, no fault codes on the onboard diagnosis system, took it to the diesel doctor in Petone found the problem quickly fuel tank was full of milky stuff so that got drained and the whole system flushed etc runs sweet now, these Common Rail Motors (PSA HDI 110) are hard to diagnose apparantly, I have read some interesting forums in the UK where mechanics change the whole system ie new fuel tank, fuel lines, both fuel pumps and filters, injectors  a set of injectors here is 2g's fuel pump I assume will be close to that  but in saying that this is the first time its had an issue in the 3 years I've had it.

Got me wondering about the diesel scum in my cruiser now which is at the WOF place getting checked, the guy doing it has a pajero and is keen to go to rallywoods next week.

Finally put the injectors in, glow plugs in, inlet manifold on, rocker cover on. Hardest bit was trying to find all the bolts i took off a year ago

Worked out how to mount the electric fan and the new position for the trans cooler.

Friday made a special trip from the airport to centre of town to pick up my diff with locker fitted (was going to be ready by end of Thurs) still not ready 2pm Fri. Since from out of town had to leave without it. Supplier was a bit red faced as he understood I wanted to fit it this weekend. Got the new front one checked and bought all the parts to complete the front (I thought).

This morning started out at about 9 am to fit. Got to fitting the axle seal and its totally the wrong thing that was supplied to me, of course supplier is closed today plus he's in the city. Also discovered there was only one hub seal when was invoiced and need two. Rung round a few places till I found the parts, went to pickup and they only had one hub seal and one oil seal. Had to go on to Kaiapoi to get the second axle seal.

Continued fitting parts and discovered the hub swivel kit supplied was totally the wrong parts. Another trip to town and found that it only came as a complete kit with the hub and axle seals. Fortunately they are happy to refund for the ones supplied previously (need to go there again to drop them off and get a refund), so that was a waste of a trip to town and to Kaiapoi.

Heading back out to the truck now to basically start where I was at at 9am this morning...

A tad unimpressed...
Sold my 1985, BJ74 MWB Landcruiser, rear locker, 33" MTs, snorkel, PTO winch, solid bars all round, spotties, AM CB etc.
Now just a 1994, 1kz Surf, pretty standard.

And for today - changed the drivers side wiper arm, and finally found some sparkplugs as well. Supercheap gave me outstanding service, which is why i left empty handed and found what i wanted from Repco.

Truely the Supercheap (mill st, hamilton) service today was utter crap, I was one of 3 people that left at the same time without even being acknowledged after asking for help. We all ended up at the same Repco at the same time. Ive had issues with Repco before, but the effort at Supercheap was total bollocks.

I hate that APPCO aint open 7 days!!

Did you use one of those pre-cut ones from Trademe or did the cutting yourself? I am assuming its the rear glass that gave you the most grief as it has a bit of a curve.
