Hi Scott, I assume you are talking about mounting it behind the cab, then looping it through a fairlead at the front and terminating it through one at the back?

I haven't seen it done, but have thought about this myself a few times.

It would have to be mounted on the passenger side I would think, to avoid the front diff bulb and be clear of the fuel tank. The horsecollar crossmember area would be good because you could brace it against that and the right-side chassis rail.

Just my initial thoughts... keep us posted if you are going to go ahead and do it - I have some winches coming in from China and I may look more seriously at mounting this way when I get one in my hands...

Hi, steve
I pick up my 2nd hand winch[8000lb thomas, off a crusier] i'll probably mount it above the rear diff,[no deck]and use pulleys to line the rope up.
Once i learn how to drive this computer i'll put some photos in,my old hilux is powered by a 2lt tiwn cam supra motor,no other mods and running 31inch mongerls. The truck weighs 1.6tons, goes like a bloody rocket.
Cheers scott

Sounds like a beast. Tomsoffroad (Tom) runs a 2ltr Celica motor in his surf and several of us run the 2.8's as well so you are in good company.

I'll look forward to seeing some photos :)
