Terrano Winch Bar

Post by kiwipete »

Okies, so it looks like I may be getting a new winch for Xmas for the Terrano.
I have several picks of what I would like, its just deciding on the best option and steel to use.

This first one is along the lines I was going to use before the winch was offerd to me, just to replace the front bumper.

I think there will be little on that one to offer, for the mounting of the winch, so now im thinking of something along the lines of this.........

Now I realise there is a great amount of engineering skill required to tackle something like this, but i'm sure with my stubborn manner, I can do it.

Then there is the rear bumper to think about too, gotta keep the back looking as good as the front now.

I will however be needing to upgrade my trusty Arc welder for a Mig me thinks.

I would like to hear of any comments, suggestions or ideas about this proposed project before I start.
I would also like to hear from anyone who has mounted a winch to a Terrano and how it was done etc.

Finally while im at it I thought I may as well tackle something along the lines of this to put on the beast.

Cos I may as well bite the bullet and go for a body lift at the same time.

Cost? As cheap as bloody possible please, im broke already.

PS. where is that tube shop in Tuam St?
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

I reckon go for the twin tube setup at the the top both front and rear and have 2inch receiver hitches in them to swap the winch from front to back. Same kinda set up as h20lovas. and with the tube sliders it would all tie in nicely. Could have sturdy tow points on them and even winch sideways if it was ever required.

If the bumber is the same as a navara's its held on by 4x8mm bolts evening towing a toyota out would break them off a mate has his bracket behind that somewhere as for rock sliders sill protectors the diff ext and brake pipes are attached to the right had side of the chassis rail i managed to fit 40 x 5mm flat bar up between the piopes and chassis
hope it helps :D
