vacuum pump problem??

the alternator screwed itself on monday outside a mates place so i got it home and took it all out, then went and got another one yesterday and put it back in and fitted it all on, however the brake booster or vacuum pump does not seem to be working because the brake is real hard to push on and you get minimal braking force out.

I am not to sure on how on where the vacuum pump is, but i think it is combined with the alternator somehow??

I just want to know if there is something else that needs to be done??

If the pump is on the alternator then maybe its just not working??

I am really not to sure. Any replys would be great.

its a 92 hilux double cab. it has an air braking system in it that used to be used to tow boat trailers, but it is no longer used. i dont think that would make much difference, but it does complicate the amount of hoses running around making it more difficult to figure out what does what.

and no i am not on middlepark road.

also where is this load proportioning valve?

on the back of the diff u may have the lines around the wrong way or did u use your old vacuum pump if so the spline on the rotor may be different
