The accepted standard is usually a 10,000 pound rated hook fixed with grade 8.8 bolts. Dont forget about what it's attached to as well, ideally they should be fixed directly through the chassis, I dont know much about surfs and where they can be mounted securely?

Thanks guys very heplfull. Yea I saw the one on 4wdbits.co.nz too and they seamed good and very well priced :)

On the front of the surf I will replace the standard tow hook which bolts directly onto the chassie, however on the rear is slightly more difficult. The tow bar bracket is bolted/mounted onto the chassie - and I was thinking onto the side of this, however better to be safe than sorry so I will investigate this a little further.

Im in Dunedin so may check with local clubs
