hi there iv got a little problem what would make my 2l-te
start hunting :? any advise wood be greatful

as these motors are a dog perhaps it scented a pig

check injector pump timing

timing mint and fuel filter 2 weeks old rebuilt engine about 8000k ago been doing it since then soon as it gets worm it hunts and if u leave it to idle to long it fumes its self up real bad starts up on 3 cylinders and i no its not injectors or glow plug replaced them when i rebuilt engine and i fitted a affter glow glow timer got me stumped :? :? :?

Hmmm tricky one. Still sounds like a fuel pressure problem. There's one old trick that has caught me out in the past get it warmed up when it starts hunting take the fuel cap off and see if it settles down. Some diesels have a closed fuel system with air bleeders that go through fancy filters. They can block and after the motor has run for a bit the fuel pump is sucking against vacuum. The other way to check that is to see if it runs any different with tank full and then almost empty. Also check the fuel return from the injectors. Low pressure at the fuel pump could also cause it.

I had a similar problem with my diesel suzuki recently, turned out all the diesel in the tank was milky, drain the tank and inspect it, check the diesel and check also for rust or other particles etc , there may be a wee filter in the washer if so you will need to rip out the tank and clean it and the whole diesel line.

Found it was ok cold and then started when warm, lack of power etc, the EGR system seems to be a common fault, may be a dirty sensor or a blocked pipe somewhere....

Theres a 2L-Te manual on the web somewhere, I'll dig out the link...

hay guys tride the empty to full no change and tride taking fuel cap off still no change gona clean out egr today and put a 4psi fuel pump in at the tanck see if that makes any changes :?

coming up in the revs by 500rpm then going back to an idle then back up another 500rpm so on so 4th over & over agen

If it is a 2L-TE then I'd put money on your problem being the TPS (throttle position sensor).

replaced pump seals too day was a great success thank god for that and cleaned out the pipe that gose from intake manifoled to egr solinoed it was full of POOS so ill see how that gose :D
