Novice needs help with snorkel in chch

Post by CHCHilux »

Gday im buying a snorkel for my 2.4diesel surf, but i don't have the skills or tools to fit it. I have no metal work experience (or any other for that matter) and don't like the idea of attacking the body of my car myself.

If anyone in CHCH would be able to recommend someone who can do it for me for a reasonable price i'd appreciate it!

Yep, go and see Rick(3651909), if you have never done this before I would not trecommend you attempt it without some previous knowledge or someone showing you how to do.

Just as an after thought there is steve aka supralux on here who runs 4wdstuff (the ad at the top, press F5 a few times if you dont see it) he does lots of mods like that as well but youd have to check with him re prices etc

yeah talked to steve, he didn't reckon there would be a huge difference in price, and have already booked it in with 4wd accessories so will go with that

Yep, thanks for the call, it was nice to get recommended :) The price Rick gave you was about the same as I would charge all up, and its not a 5-minute job (or one you can afford to get wrong) so unfortunately you either have to do it yourself or pay the money and get it done.

So, you're right - its not going to be cheap compared to a cup of coffee, but all-in-all the price you got from Rick is about right for a snorkle fit.

mmm... coffee... GOOSE!, make me a coffee would ya? :)

Cheers

Steve

Fitting Snokels is a damn fiddly job, did mine and I think next time it would just be easier to get someone else to do it. Hole saws can get a bit nasty when they bite and the drill judo throws you across the room.

One of the scariest mods ive done  Cutting into the panel with a hole saw.

Took my time and it came out fine, but still looking at rerouting the piping for a sorter route.
