SAS SURF
well finally found some motivation to get this surf finished so fitted the new engine in on sunday did all the wiring and wooooo it started but not with out problems IE. sized starter motor + burnt out alt.. + blowen head gasket and no power to the coil but small shit and not a big deal to fix so off i go on that first test drive ( and with a big woody ) so the test went ok but the front shockies are to hard and not allowing much travel so can anyone make some suggestions as for a fix on this issue thanks . pinky

Well, I'm assuming you are refering to two separate problems here... they are hard, and they are limiting travel.
hard = new shocks... I don't think there is any easy way around that... don't get gas-charged ones, ie that slip open under their own pressure, they will be no better... go for Rancho 9000's if you can afford it or something either that feels soft or that is adjustable.
limiting = longer shocks, which probably means taller towers for them so they don't bottom out during compression. you can make taller towers easy enough... either use a hoop bent from 25-30mm pipe or make something... I have even seen the tower cut off just above the chassis rail, and a formed strip of steel welded in to make it taller...
Can you put some photos of it up so we can see?
