Suzuki rear disc brake conversion

If I made a suzuki rear disc brake conversion kit, how many people would be interested in buying a kit?

Price would be dependent on time taken to machine the parts, and material cost, and you would have to send your old drums in.

Cheers

I think the axle flange on a 413, 410 and a vitara is the same? Ill have to do some measuring, the only different parts between the kits would be the brakelines and hand brakes (I think).

My mate UBZ posted interest on my behalf earlier, in the mean time..

Unsure of the axle flange mount . You can use either 413 callipers/discs or vitara calliper/discs, not mix between the two. On LilPig Ive used vitara callipers and discs. On the new toy Ive used 413 front callipers and discs. Both have been with the spidertrax kit, but they dont advertise this as a samurai/413 AND vitara/sidekick kit. brakelines are the same between the two, just "flexed" the flexi hose too meet the brake pipe on both

My yellow sj413 had discs on the rear when i bought it. i think they are off the front of a 413. But its got the standard master cylinder. i changed the pads a few weeks ago and now the pedal is soft like a clutch, it wont build up any pressure, i have bleed the brakes, looked for leaks, and tried putting in another used master cylinder. Do you usually have to change to master cylinder to get a bigger bore size for the rear? if yes, does anyone know what a good substitue is? otherwise any idea's as to why my brakes wont bulid pressure?

I have (IIRC) heard of using the master cylinder off a subaru. Cant find the link now but will check if I have it somewhere in my pile of printed stuff. Have a look on outer limits forum in the bible (be careful to ask any questions though as they tend to flame anyone who asks basic questions without doing a search)

According to my reference you should be able to use one off a:

1998 - 2002 Forester
2000 - 2003 Imprezza
1998 -2003 Legacy
2001 - 2003 Outback

I'm looking too.

Cheers

Steve.

nice, thanks guys. if there is no leaks in the brakes, and the brakes are bleed correctly, it has to be the master cylinder huh?

I should add that the Subie MC is not an exact straight swap. You have to extend teh push rod a bit but there are plenty of how tos on that. Search on Zuwharrie.com.

I need a rear disc conversion for my SJ410. I'm located in Christchurch but the Suzuki will soon be transported to Invercargill. Any tips on if this offer is still available - or who could do the work in either city would be appreciated. Thanks - Tony

I make a kit to run stock front calipers on the rear, and another kit to run Mitsi Galant calipers with built in handbrake:

That's a fine looking bit of machining Ben. Do you sell either kit? I had not thought about the handbrake - the centre one seems fine but would be interested in the built-in handbrake. Thanks - Tony.
