Thought Id kick this topic off this weekend.

Big weekend for me.

Picked up the electric fan shroud on thursday plus rear axle bearings and rear brake pads from supralux. Set about putting the shroud on yesterday, got half way through working out where and how to mount. didnt get as far as i wanted to, infact i wanted to start the surf yesterday but that didnt happen. Spent most of today mounting the elect fan to the shroud. Turned out much closer fit but I still have a removable fan, shroud and radiator all in one piece - 4 bolts and it all pops out together :D

also changed the oil today. put the rest of the air intake back on and rung toyota asking how much a new turbo pressure sensor was. Answer i got back (ex japan $600) led me to super cheap to buy some glue/cement to repair it myself.

See if we get to start it tomorrow.

Spent Sat at the Whangarei rally site marking hazards.. Shit Andrew graham and I must have bad nightmares to peg hazards like that. Worked last night, worked today, got Hilux diff ready to pull out to fit to Jimny.

Wanganui Rally blew the rear diff and chipped a tooth in the front diff, haven't been able to get Jimny diffs so looks that E class is calling

Fitted new glow plugs and battery, puled out the air duct that runs across the top of the air-con radiator to the air cleaner.
It starts and runs heaps better. I can not understand why they have a restriction in the tube.
Looked at making a snorkel out of drain pipe ... dropped the idea 'cause it will look really bad ... looks like it will be plan B ... steel tube
I've just got to rember to keep out of the water till it's done. :? :?

I know the feeling! Ya just gota keep at it if ya wana fill the freeza.. The other day we walked from 12 noon til just before dark (must of been about 8pm or something) and didnt see anything. Jumped back in the truck to return to the hut for the night, started it up, turned on the lights and drove forward about 50 meters only to see 2 hinds running off in the river bed 150 meters away! Just before it was too dark to see that far. If only we knew they were there... haha!

 Me three :!:

I spent about 6 1/2 hours on Saturday walking up and down hills, saw fresh deer sign at the start of the way up, nothing else all the way to the top by 2pm, so decided to cut back down through the creek at the bottom to get out, bad idea, took 3 hours just to get down to the bottom, then another hour to walk the creek back out to the truck  Of course the only other sign we saw was when we got back down to the creek

Other than that, Thurs afternoon/night, and early Friday Mon was whitebaiting, got 2 Lb for the two days, Sat/Sun Morn was fitting the snorkel so we could go on the Ashley Gorge trip, which in turn led to ripping all the carpets out of the Isuzu when we got home, so they could dry out, It was an awesome trip 8)

More work on the surf today:

Finished up the radiator (what a never ending mission that was).

Learnt howto use the supercheap poxy glue (no instructions, said 5 mins and 16 hours later it was still as soft as i put it on - remixed a new lot today and hey presto 5 mins later it was setting). This was on my ex japan $600 turbo pressure sensor.

Drained the crap out of the fuel tank by loosening the bung. (quite scary loosening that bung when you know you have 60litres of diesel above you and a 10l bucket to catch it if it all turns to custard ie the bung falls out and rolls under the oppisite corner wheel  )

Changed the spark plugs in the LR and started it for the first time since sheffield after it died a tragic death.

Filled the surf with with water and started the POS toytoa for the first time in a year 8)
