Talk to your local exhaust mender fellers. Have one custom made to end where YOU want. considor one coming up thru the cab, passengers side, tight up agin the roof, exiting at the back behind the cab. CANT get snagged there!!
Under bonnet, possibilities are endless with air boxes, filters etc.
Are you Petrol or Diesel?

get an outlaw one if you can they are great, but if rick doesn't have one on the shelf it might take a while. I tried to get one for my surf from him after a couple of months and 3 visits i gave up..
But they are a great product and worth the chase im sure.
the first visit was a day after i joined this site, which was may i think, rick wrote my name down and did the same each visit. If he ever calls ill have to tell him i have sold the truck

, probably my fault for not following it up. They are a good place to deal with and pretty helpful.

if you can weld and have a hacksaw make your own bro!!
mine only took a couple days to make and cost about $70 for the 2 and 1/2inch exhuast tube and the hats are about $70-80

Here ya go, quick, simple and cheap:
The steel ones are strong, the plastic ones are quick, easy and cheaper. I've never seen a broken plastic one, they do have a bit of give in them - the thing that breaks is the hat, and even the steel ones have a plastic hat.
I custom make mine from 3" exhaust tubing and mandrel bends - that way it can go where I want it to go since most of the trucks I build are pretty custom anyway.
Oh, and don't get one done at an exhaust shop, they look naff as they use a crush bender and all the bends end up looking restrictive and ugly. If you are going to go steel either have it mandrel bent or use pipe and mandrel bends and a welder.

Here ya go, quick, simple and cheap:
Mr Supralux could you answer a few questions on snorkels.
I"m thinking of one of these snorkels for my Range Rover and as its dark blue with cream leather seats do these come in different colours?
I noticed that yours is fitted to the passengers side can you supply one for the other side?
The one in the picture only appears to be half up the door so will I be able to submerge myRange Rover up to the top of the window height if I keep the doors shut?
The snorkel appears to fixed to the door and mirror this could stop me from looking at the corgis in the back seats when the door is opened?
What skills are needed to fit one of these and are they only fitted by special people?
I notice your signature that you are a 'complete bastard' that's good' as I prefer to deal with some one that's achieved what every one expects of him... [/img]
How are ya DJ? another long time no see. Oh, and yes I can make you a snorkle in any of the trendy flouro colors, with a sliding rubber-band fitment so you can just move it up the pillar easily if you find the puddle too deep...

Auto Bend in CHCH does them all bent for $142. Talk nicely and u might get a discount.
Give them a ring you will prolly find they have your vehicle on file and will have the pipe bent up for you in a day or so. If not get a piece of wire bend it up how u want the snorkel to fit and take that in to them and they will bend up a pipe based on your wire.
Then it is just a matter of chopping a hole and attaching it to the car / air box. When chopping the hole use some fuel line split down the middle to make a cheap gommit - tidys up the install some what.
Oh you will prolly want some 3" flexi hose & hose clips from Blackwood & Paykel out off Annex road - they have heaps of off cuts but that pipe is still kinda pricey for a off cut (say about $15 for 1/2 metre - u only need tiny amount though).
Cheap way to attach snorkel to the vehicle is use a old rubber mud flap and cut nice even strip of it off and then pin it to the car with some sheat metal screws - You should paint all the bits u cut though as rust is a bitch.
Also remember to use excess silicon when doing it.
Oh and a snorkel hat you want one of them also - they are a big rip like the hose - cheapest i could find was $60 at southern 4wd. - you could prolly hori up some plumbing pipe and paint it black to get the same effect but that sounded like too much effort for me.
After that test it is all sealed up nice and then go pretend it is a submarine in ya local river.
Might take pics of my install and post them later on tonight.

After you cut the mubflap into small strips how do you attach the pipe to the black strips, or is that screwed from the back!

by Swaney
You screw the rubber strips in to the body with self tapping sheet metal screws or bolts. It creates a bracket over the snorkel pipe

why not trawl around the panel beater in your area, ask em if they have a rivenut tool, and put captive nuts in for you. If you prepare your hole with sealer and paint etc, the hole wont wear out with vibration and the snorekel falling off.
Put a rubber layer under a metal bracket instead of a rubber bracket only.
FWIW........

When you've finished installing your snorkle dont forget the most important part is making sure its sealed and does what its supposed to. I can take the ram off the top and seal the top of the snorkle off with the palm of my hand and it'll stall my chevy within about 4 seconds :thumright:

I shall remember this piece of sage advice, when the need to remind you that I dont have a 70 flat top and you do!!
When next it stall, look around, I may be near........

It would indeed, thus indicating my jealousy.
mind you, it could be my equally big bum, shitting down the tube, especially if you have done something spectacularly clever that I can't do!!!

Cheap enema if you try that on a diesel.
Pretty sure I read somewhere on here they don't cut out when you do that trick. Could be wrong though. Not keen to test it haha.

Heheh, well, my little

mistake

oftrying that hand trick on the safari proved that you can stall a diesel by starving it from air (no surprise really) but that it also causes a whole lot of damage
O put my hand over the top of the snorkle, and the engine stopped. In the process it sucked in all of the plastic air ducting on the intake system causing it to implode. What a farkin mess. Be carefull if you have any kind of ducting between the snorkle and the air box

What you are really saying, DB, is that a diesel engine is NOT actually a motor as such, but a furkin big diesel powered vacuum pump?
I will go along with that, I tried it with my 2.9l and snatched my hand off the intake before all the rubber bits tried to go thru the turbo. THAT would NOT have been covered under warranty, I bet!!

A mate put a DB stubbie in mine the other day.....
I wondered why i was down on power, rattly and smoking...
Looked in my airbox and noticed it had caved in a little and found it leaking in air there.
He took the bottle out without me noticing, I did an oil change and thought that solved it...
Then he told me.
Good laugh.
Ill get him back.
