Hello, need some help, ive got a 93 terrano, 2.7 turb diesel. i was driving around sweet as and then stopped the truck to run inside and grab something, when i came out and went to start the truck up, it just doesnt turn over. the oil a/t temp light comes up as well.
its really strange, i just dont know why its doing it all of a sudden, any info would be great.

my old sh*ter surf did that once... turned out to be a loose battery terminal .. was enough to have the lights come up on the dash but would just go tsskt when engaging starter, tightened it up and away she went

cheers for the info, seems like the starter motor is screwed. gave it a little bang and she started up again.
another thing, i see they have two batteries, are the terrano's 24v or 12v?? is the extra bat for the likes of a winch etc

Exactly the same thing happened to the starter in my hilux. It would turn over when you gave it a bash.
I replaced the contacts & it is now fine.
I brought non toyota replacement contacts for $16...genuine was $60.
It was very easy..the hardest bit was removing it.

another question, can anyone point me in a good direction, i want to get a aftermarket trans cooler, ive heard that they can cook easy and it does seem to get quite hot down there.

south is a good direction
Hey you asked!
For a trans cooler you have to think where you will mount it but I would grab a decent one from a 6cyl they only tend to heat up on long climbs in higher gears and open road towing, someone i know bought a lexus converted surf and it had all sorts of trans cooling issues.
The cooler out of a 6 cyl in behind the indicator worked but that truck is a bit of a show pony he is up your way now anyway

just thinking has anyone had much experience with the terrano's, lik is it normal for them to be quite warm, ie coming through from the trans? cheers
