Cnsidring Sale: LongWheelBase SJ413 project (long post+pics)

Post by icekayak »

Well been so busy recent haven't got to spend any time on my project and unfortunately it seems like there is little time to be spent on it next year (and need the space back on the drive, and neighbours don't appreciate grinding etc etc etc...) so think it may be best to sell it

I am in Hibiscus Coast (Just north of Auckland). No idea on price together the stuff owes me thousands of dollars but happy to keep most of the accessories/parts to put onto the next project or my current vitara :) so deal can include whatever but need the big stuff gone, prefer truck/chassis/parts truck went together. Not interested in selling parts untill truck is gone.

It was being built to replace my current vitara as i wanted something more capable offroad and in the end was going to work out to be a similar price to what my vitara is worth currently but go more places....

The LWB's are very rare in NZ with only a few SJ413 ones around the place but most of the parts are the same as the SWB ones so parts are no problem but makes a unique vehicle with just the bit of extra room and with seats folded forward i worked out i could probably just sleep in the back of it :D

Plan was:
- SJ413 Long Wheel Base Convertable Got this
-Fibreglass Canopy (also got old softtop which is stuffed but good for pattern still) Got this
-6 Point Roll Cage (half external and half internal) Got this
-2" Spring Lift (Maxitrac) Got this
-2" Virtual Lift
-32" SAT Tyres (8.25 x 16) Got these currently on rough cruiser? rims but have got 16" suzuki rims to put them on
Also have some 31" (i think) groundhawgs good tread on wickedly offset suzuki rims.
-Rear Lockrite Got this, fitted into diff with new bearings but brakes need work? prob new cylinders
-Front Birfield Rings Got this, new not fitted
-Jamex Bucket Seats Got this, pretty well brand new on rails
-Rock Lobster was gonna build this from the 410 and 413 box's combined, got all the gears/parts just need machining and assembling
-Checkerplate rear deck/False Floor which turns into bed Got few sheets of checkerplate avaliable
-Hippo Liner interior
-Snorkle/Modified air Intake
-Stereo, Marine Speakers
-In Cab PRS
-Warn HS9500 Winch Got this but needs reassembling as replaced a gear
-Rock Sliders
-Side Bars
- Bullbar Got various
Also have a numebr of cans of nice bright yellow :)

The truck has no rego but has previously been registered in NZ, (imported from aussi as a sierra i believe) It had a fair bit of rust in all the usual places but is all fixable :) I have made a reasonable start at doing the rust. inc replacing the top of rear side's with 3mm RHS etc.

The windscreen frame is pretty bad but fixable, and had a nice crack in glass) but was probably going to replace it with a fibreglass one or 2nd hand one. Around all the flares were pretty bad but have cut it out whilst allowing for virtual lift but their still all open. front wheel wells need a little along with rear ones. also front clip around headlight buckets etc etc (could just put another front clip on??) doors are not fab...

There is the stock motor in the truck which i was told was all good and it started all good for me but have never actually driven it as had no diffs.
Also has stock gearbox, transfer case (sj410 which is a bit lower than stock gearing and beefed up mounting arms), rear driveshaft (longer than a swb one) fuel tank. No diffs or springs fitted on the truck currently

To get the truck on the road depending on what you purchased would need to sort out rego (see below), finish virtual lift, finish rust repairs, get windscreen, and sort out diffs/springs/shocks to bolt under :) (or hilux maybe?)

Also have a SWB chassis with the rego on hold and number plates. was going to check on regulations regarding body swaps/chassis swaps etc etc but was planning on getting the LWB back on the road.

and also have a parts truck (hardtop) avaliable which got stuck on a beach and swamped. The owner had it running for a year or so after that but has a fair bit of rust in floor pans etc. Rego dead. Will have to check what it is but has a toyota engine/box in it and has cert plate for this thought it was a 3 something 3k maybe? definately not 4age or anything. Missing starter, and clutch has "locked up" no diffs/springs/tank/front windscreen but think its complete other than that. notn too sure what parts are rusted out so doors etc may be changeable etc etc but will check sometime :)

Have a rear diff unknown condition no brakes (I think)
Have a rear diff with new bearings and lockrite, but brakes need attention (probbaly new cylinders - only few dollars each)
Have a front diff - think it needs new bearings - complete
Have a few sets of stock springs/shocks depeding on what i can find.

Quite a bit of it has since been sprayed with just rattle cans of black and looks a fair bit better than in these photos (many of which were when i first got it) will get some current photos if required... but there are most of the spare parts sitting inside it...

PM me for more info/offers/dates as to when you want to pick it up etc etc

Well that turned into quite an essay didn't it :) hope some of my ramblings made sense to you and hope you can see my vision for the truck and keep the dream alive...
there is definately work involved in finishing it but definately achievable for not huge amounts of extra costs but a bit of time :)When you think about all the things you normally do to a stock truck to make it good, they are similar to the bulk of what this truck needs eg this truck possibly doesn't come with springs and shocks, but that's one of the first things you would normally replace so its no big deal that it doesn't have any now. the rust in around the flares, that area is normally cut out for a virtual lift anyway etc etc.

Honestally i'm not too sure... All depends on what you take
I guess ideally I'd like to sell the parts truck, chassis, and lwb + canopy +cage and keep most of the smaller accessories like possibly the lifted springs and winch.

I have spent many thousands of dollars on everything (and that's getting the stuff at decent prices) but really the truck its self wasn't worth all that much

Give me a text on 027 258 9393 (or call but no promises i'll answer as often don't hear it at work)

cheers :)
