Hi all.
I'm a FNG here. Have just bought a 97 Prado, Diesel, Auto. Can any body help me with info re. the things I should look out for.
I'm aware there was a recall re. the rear suspension and will be contacting Toyota about this. Is there anything else I should know about? Perhaps Transmission Cooler mods, etc. I will be towing a fair bit.
Cheers
Scott

Better exaust should be first on your list ie 2.5" as the factory ones cause it to get too hot, I would look at a secondary temp guage as well....with an alarm if you can ....Small toyota diesels do get too hot and crack heads.....Even the 3L diesels crack heads....

Other than that nice wagon

An after market trans cooler is always a good idea when doing a lot of towing.
I assume it is the intercooled 3.0ltr diesel, in which case they are a great engine, as long you keep them serviced and don't let it get hot (this must take a fair bit as I tow my surf around with mine, and it has never looked like getting overheating). 300-450 thousand kms is not out of the question with these engines if they are looked after :)

Thanks guys.
Is there info on this forum about the after market transmission cooler (brand - suppler info) and can you also suggest an appropriate temp sensor system?
Cheers
