What Model Safari/Patrol to buy?

Hey guys - I am considering selling my mk safari and getting into a coil sprung unit only for the fact the newer models seem to hold their prices far better (i have seen them advertised for up to $15k!) I have done a few things to my mk, but am getting to the stage of having to spend bigger money and find myself wondering if I am better to get a newer coil sprung truck and spend my $$ on that. A mate of mine has got a early 90's cruiser and seems to be setting the pace. I really want to do a ute conversion on either my truck or another one, and this is where the toss up begins. - Are there any differences in the newer safaris - eg does a certain model have diff locks or LSDs as factory, are some cheaper to lift etc?

Thanks for your comments and Merry Christmas!

Yeah thanks, well Ive got a set of 33's already, and Ive got a hydraulic winch set up that saves a heap of room up front which helps the approach angle heaps so thats not essential. I guess im hoping to find a safari with some rear end panel damage cheap so as I can get in and chop it all off.

Yeah thats what I want to do - only my deck would be alot smaller! This is the problem with 4x4ing is it gets addictive fast and keeping up with the brown's is bloody expensive! The main reason Im looking at trading up is that there are alot more bolt-ons available for the newer trucks. My mate has poked a little bit of money into his toyota - and it has made huge differences, where as I am about buggered unless I spend big $$ on diff lockers, shocks, suspension etc, and at the end of the day still have big clearance issues with approach and descent angles... I should have listened!

Hey - ive PM'd you guys bout your trucks - be sweet to do a deal if applicable. If there is anybody out there who has got/knows of a truck suitable to start with, or already done let me know. Also if you know of a partially damaged (rear) safari could be keen too.
