cheap winches

Hi all has anyone brought a cheap brand winch such as GEW and used it extensively, if so how do they perform? and any problems? would appreciate your info as looking to purchase a winch but can't decide to lay out the dosh and get a good one, or go for a cheapie....

I bought a winch out of the b&s when i got there it was a factory toyota one

with the chassi mounts still on it

out of a safari i think i made a mount and stuck it on my toyota ute for $480 a real bargain i thought worth checking the b&s might get lucky!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I got some good news yesterday on that topic...

Mine HAVE ARRIVED!

At bloody last... god, they were supposed to be here in February! Still, they are here. I will have them in my hands this coming weekend. Still no confirmed price as I am waiting for the last bill to come in from the customs brokerage, but I am thinking they will be in the $850inc GST bracket.

They are not GEW, but look pretty much the same (Hell, they're all made from the same dies anyway) and are 12V 12000lb models.

If anyone is interested (and those who already were interested) give me a call one evening next week on 03 314 7227 and I'll give you more info.
