Got some of the bracing work done today on the chop, just have one brace left to go in. then have to cut and weld the sheet metal back

WEll yesterday went to Armourgaurds place to pick up the 4g32 engine for the go cart, he has a nice land cruiser to would look better if he lifted it a bit but he said hes going to do that soon, Then today i got the 4g32 engine started man does it run good , Started 1st pop and idols on 3 cylenders:D (Put the rong spark plug in ) but it runs sweet, now i just have to make or get some headers for it and away i go, 100hp gocart hahaha.

Oh and to morrow i am going to meremere drag with my my dad and yea

Removed the carpet from the jeep, had already taken the back half out several weeks ago, this time it was the front piece. A bit more work involved, had to take out the centre console and both front seats and some trim. Definitely worth it as the backing was wet from some time ago.

Also cleaned out the engine computer trying to work out why the jeep has been stopping without warning recently, so here's hoping the removal and cleaning has sorted it out

me and yorick made a start on doing the engine swap on my car which was the main reason we were in wellington the other week it is interesting so far only a few skinned knuckles
it is the first time i have done an engine swap and ignored the hanes manual
the way they wanted to do it seemed way to much hassle they said to remove the gearbox and then remove the engine that looked like to much hard work but we decided if we removed the track rod it would give us enough room to take the engine and gearbox out of the engine bay as a unit and it worked a treat

i'm not looking forward to swapping the headers over 4 bolts per cylinder 16 bolts in all and not much room to get to them that is what happens when you use spaghetti for headers

Pulled the new head unit out, doesn't do what I bough it for and took it back but I have to wait till Monday for my refund as the boss was out.
Then changed the fuel filter on the Safari and now I'm going to have a good look at the hub I put on the morning I went away for New Years.
One of them was clicking (one of the new ones) very quietly, could only hear it down down a fenced driveway and I couldn't get the very back ring bit off from the old one, don't know if that matters though but it would be nice to know how to get if off. So yeah, inspection time.

didnt get bugger all achieved really,

wired up my spotties, put my new front speakers in, rangi'd up my aeriel that got taken out by a branch a few days ago, siliconed back on windscreen trim, taken out by same branch as aerial
put another fuse in so i have brakelights again... and thats about it...

Had my new shocks fitted Friday. The last ones must of been shagged. They work a treat!

And finally got round to fitting my old school Pioneer speakers under the rear seats. As the doors are off I had no sounds.

Spent the last two weeks working on my rental property...

Summary is that not much 4x4ing has happened - except that I have been crossing the river rather than using the bridge about 6 times a day... and some times I get side tracked and end up up or down river running the dog along some of the tracks...

My feroza had been fuming a bit with the top off over the last month or so, every time you backed off coming to lights etc or down a hill there was a big stink of fried oil in the cabin, kinda strange considering it dosnt blow a puff of smoke or have excesive blowby so after a bt of a poke around a feroza forum i discovered that Feroza's are quite pissy about thier oil, then i clicked about a month ago i had topped up (about 1/2 litre) with the supercheap budget crappy Australian oil (I normally only use it for chainsaw bar oil but had run out of the good stuff) I gave the beastie a filter change and ran in 4 litres of Pennzoil 25/60 high Milage oil .. the results were instantaneous, stopped fuming and smelling of fried burnt onions. moral... the higher the k's the better quality oil you need


oh fitted a decent reverse light (55 watt minispot) to replace the stupid factory ones

Keep on topic please. 4wd achievements only. Anything else goes in offtopic or an appropriate forum community elsewhere like the hoyts forums or something

Hard mounted my air compressor in the engine bay. All wiring done, except for the switch wire to the relay. Need to fit the switch somewhere on the dash first.

Since this is in my Jeep, it was deemed to be 4x4 related and posted.

Went down Waikawa beach in the hilux and got some drift wood for the wifee's garden

but

I didn't engage 4WD, should I post this here or not

But anyway I went on the rock rash up lake colridge and managed to rip out the high steer clean out of the knuckle and snap two tie rods and spin up a drive shaft. but had alot of fun doing it

SNAP. Without all the damage Chopper did. All I did was shear the A arm off (twice) and blow out a rear main seal

nice one guys ! looks like a bit of fun hey was it the studs that failed or the housing ?

He sheared 2 studs off, and came close to completely stripping the other 2

I sheared of 1 stud, but all 4 on both sides became loose as .

Will sort some solution out

Took the mighty Cruiser away on the Rock Rash. Didn't manage to break anything but my starter decided to crap out lucky for me that Suprasurfs tow truck is a toyota so after robbing some bits i was on track again. Although the battery decided to stuff me round as well (could have been all the welding we did fixing Rok and Riks trucks )

Found a great new track in the mid canterbury area. Had to scrub bash through a couple of hundred metres of broom to find it, then spent 2 hours winching from tree to tree through bonet deep water. Nice spot, just have to make some enquiries on the quiet to make sure I'm not destroying a nature reserve as I think we are the first trucks in there for years or ever. Theres good mud, bonnet depth water, heaps of good willows to winch from, cell phone reception the whole way up. I'm sure it's not private land, and it's definatly not DOC.

Hey that sounds pretty hard core. Do you have any GPS coordinates? I'd be interested to know where it is. What's the closest town ship before you go off the main road?

No one wanted to take photos of my truck in case it embarrassed all those Hilux boys Remembering that i'm still running standard suspension and only on 35" tyres the old girl certainly gets some places. Just need to improve the flex in the rear end, but got some cool ideas for that. Got a heap of vid footage (mainly of the hiluxs tho ) So once i get my ass into gear i'll post some up. Managed to put the truck on its side (again ) when we did the test run up Worsleys. So now i can update my avatar
