replacement motor needed desperatly

Post by Nailz »

Hey folks, time is running out for my trip away and I still havent found a new engine for my ln130 yet.

Im really quite set on getting a 1kz or even better a 3l and have been chasing a few up on trademe and through some wreckers but every one falls through at the last minute. I really dont want to have to take my marvie away again.

If anybody knows some one thats got one of these engines for sale or sitting in a shed somewhere could you please give them my number.

Cheers Ben

Pick up a crummydore for $400 take the bits you want and sell the rest, its gonna need certing anyway....a 350 chev is going to shatter the 8" diffs. the Lexus V8 is niiicccceeee (have driven a prado like mine with one in)....thinking Lexus for mine when the 2l-te blows up (or earlier).....

What about a supra motor?

Yeah I had one of those in a series 4 rx7, it was pretty fun to drive, but awefully tempermental and it was fairly thirsty...
plus have you seen the way the fuel prices are going up...shit...going petrol would be mad, fun, but mad.

yeah ive looked into that but have been told itl be too big of a mission. would be wicke dthough because im sure theyd spin 35s like theres no tomorrow for sure.

I may just have to pay out 3k and get a 3L.

It'd probly be the most sensible idea (short of dumping a LS1 into it)

seriously get a 3l and put a turbo on it!

it will bolt straight in!
1kz etc will need the mounts shifted back!(been there)

ls1 are junk!,go the ls6 for reliability & strength

id own a nissan vh v8 any day over a 2uz!(dont get me started on the internals!)

Yeah that would be nice but im sure after shelling out for a 3L, (when i can eventually find one) and my 50mm bodylift and 50mm spring lift, and new 33x12s, that I probly wont be able to afford to turbo it.
Nice thought though.

hmm, wonder why it would be any more of a mission that any other conversion... unless length is an issue? seems the end result would certainly justify some custom mounts and stuff...

pretty sure you can swap all the turbo stuff over from your 2lt-e straight onto the 3l... could be wrong but...

bummer about that head, means my one wont fit on yours either...

true just have to shift a stud on the head to fit the ct20 manifold(theres another hole waiting for you tapped!)
turbo feed/coolant plumbing etc.....

really simple conversion if youre organised

i cant see you fitting anything else at a good price & still will go better than a 13bt!

If I were you I would track down a VN V6 Cheap as. Contact 4 WD upgrades in CH CH for a kit for the drive. Drop me a message for the wiring using a std holden comp. They go awesome in hiluxes and surfs trust me I know. Build your own engine mounts easy peasy.

yeah kinda sux. 3L is going to be the go now.
13BT would've been nice but after a couple of phone calls its not really going to be too practical for my application.
1KZ would've been great too but again after talking to a few people it not really practical.
3.8 V6 Would be fun but if I was going to go to a petrol engine then Id go for the Lexus/toyota 4.0 V8.

3L is definatly the way to go for this one.

Shit I must be getting old, going for the sensible option and all.

3l fits nice and nice consistent power just use old 2.4 engine mounts ,alt and starter you will have a few elect plugs left over just zip tie outa the way all go cam belt and water pump new at bnt about 30+gst each pay to do these my opinion is DO NOT TURBO IT umless the engine is fairly new otherwise the bottom end goes bang ........been there done that.....good luck hiace vans have 3l engine too could be a cheap option

cheers tony
