got a couple of warning lights showing in the womans shop hack
the battery one and this (see below, bad drawing)
can anyone tell me what it means?

catalytic converter is overheated, most likely due to being partly blocked. time to remove it. it will block up completely soon and the motor will not run.

also check the sensors wires have not been damaged (i've had a rock cut mine before).

remove it and replace it or can anything else be done?
is it normal for battery light too come on at same time?

go to a muffler shop & get them to remove the whole convertor....they will weld a exhaust tube to suit in place.youle also notice a slight power gain aswell because no more flow restrictions from the convertor....

dont stress about the batt light yet....you really want check the fault codes aswell,what sort of vehicle is it ?

don't put exhaust tube in to replace it, it makes it sound like crap. fit a resonator or straight through muffler.

don't know about battery light tho sometimes you get werid things when alternator starts playing up.

Given that your ECU was able to detect a faulty cat convertor, chances are that there is a sensor after it in the exhaust. In such cars, if you just eliminate the cat, your error message will remain or worse will put engine in limp home mode. Replace the cat with an aftermarket high flow cat, that way the computer remains happy.

Easiest way to check is to see how many O2 sensors are in the exhaust. First is normally before the cat, the second is just after the cat.

they are running dual o2 sensors these days ??
i'm getting behind in my petrols.

usually there is heat sensor in the cat itself. either disconnect the sensor or simple pull the sensor out and tie it up.

Some of them actually run four O2 sensors! But those are mostly European and American makes.

I am not knowledgeable on Toyotas, if he is lucky then its just a heat sensor and not a proper second O2 sensor to detect efficiency and effectiveness of the cat.

if its turbo (petrol or diesel) i cant see it being that loud at all.....yes on an aspirated donk!

Hi tpft,you have not mentioned what the vehicle is,have you?
Sounds like an Isuzu fault.
May be the alternator and or charge lamp relay are faulty.

I had mine replced with a hiflow cat - all up about $350 fitted. My cat had imploded thanks to being dunked in cold mud while red hot due to use of the loud pedal.

after the missus was using like 120bucks a week in the xr6 i bought her a 2grand toyota caldina little station wagong thingee, 4 cyclinder auto crap mobile.

battery seems to be not charging as well, barley got home today.
may have too take it in, reving the shit out of it doesn,t fix it anyway.......
so prob beyond me..
