Hi all, so many questions I seem to be asking as of late.
Is changing the engine mounts as easy as jacking the motor, removing the bolt, sliding out the rubber mount and replacing it then; reversing the process?
I am told by a few that this may be the cause of my engine idiling so rough and the whole chasis vibrating. Has a sweet spot on the idle at 800rpm but anything above and below that, it shakes rather badly, more so at lower revs.
Have prices the said mounts at REPCO and they were all under $115.00 each. Cochram Nissan was $165.00 plus GST each!!!!
Any other suggestions here?

Don't forget to check for any spots where the motor or box could be coming into contact with the frame that could be the couse of nasty vib's
My Paj did that after I bent the transfer case gard up against it
the other one I've heard is stones getting jammed, usually in the hardest possable spot to get into
uaslly requiring a layer of skin and some choice swear words to remove

Thats pretty reasonable for engine mounts.
Is yours manual?? Yo can checkthe condition of the monuts by reversing up a steep hill.
Terrano's are pretty easy on mounts, but the left hand mount is the one that breaks through being stretched all the time under acceleration.
Its also normal for a diesel to idle in the sweet spot at about 750 to 800 rpm. Any more or less and the harmonics are all out of balance and it can fatigue the chassis and cause stress cracks over time i have been told


My Terrano vibrated, i checked the mounts many times and tey were fine. Its just how they are. The Safari is thge same, Brand new mounts and vibrates like a bastard above or below 750 rpm untill about 1000rpm.
Check the mounts, but you might just have to live with it.
I should have asked at the start " was it doing it when you first got the vehicle??"
Oh, and yes, the mounts are that easy to change, but them there is the fun part of trying to line the bolt holes up...........................

Hi guys, thanks for the replies.
As it turns out it was the plates that support the runningboards viabrating under the carpet. I removed these plates, rust proofed them and applied some mastic (grey) silicone type metal glue and re-tightend them all. Some of the bolts I had to replace as they seem to be a non hitensile type bolt and stripped easly, with S/Steel ones. This has solved all those horid viabrations completely.
