From my research the alternator in my Prado should be an 80Ah one.... can anyone confirm this??? and offer any upgrade options?

Hi Bill
I'll take a look at work tomorrow,I've got all the info on mounting sizes and output ratings, would make it easier if you can find any part numbers on the alternator some of these jappas can have multiple listings for one model, you are right about the factory dual battery fitted vehicles they usually have 80-100amp plus units fitted.

Hi Bill
I dont have any info for you yet,Ive been through a couple of cross reference books but they dont identify the 1KZ-te motor,an alternator number would be good, or check out the toyota section on this link and see if any are similar,In the meantime I'll keep looking ,what year is your prado ?

Hi Bill'
sorry about the delay,I haven't had any luck matching those numbers but have been told the A13512 110amp alternator in the link i gave you should fit you just need to change the 3 pin plug wiring ,you should be able to confirm this using the dimensions on the site ,that unit is fitted to landcruiser with dual batteries.
hope this helps

Contact a good auto sparky and inquire as to what it would cost to have original alternator rewound to higher amperage ... oftentimes, this can be surprisingly cost effective.
