Welcome and don't listen to all these closet Jeepers (why else would they be lurking in the Jeep section?).

Jeeps are the best, all else are wannabes :-)

Do you have any photos / details of your toy Grand Cherokee?

um... well its got the l6 4.0 motor with mopar race cam, head work(3 angle valve job and porting),jet chip, mod and spaced throttle body, extractors etc etc. basicly it has unlocked the upper rev range which hinders the standard 4.0.
I might pop out and get some trail photos this weekend if the weather is nice :D

Sounds interesting. Did you get the work done here (or did it yourself)? Where abouts in the country are you based?

speaking of rev range.... TJ when does your rev limiter kick in? Mine gets a hell of a workout, yet my mates 96 Grand Cherokee doesnt seem to even have a rev limiter...

all the work was "d i y'", it was easy the only trap that got me was i needed to rotate the dizzy about 40 degrees(i cut the tags off the dizzy) it turned out there is no timing to set the dizzy to but when cranked around the computer ajusts the spark timing. that took abit to workout, it must be a mopar thang... the rev limit is at the redline mark OH my poor viscus fan!!! :D

Mine start to kick in over 5200 rpm. I have pushed it to 6000+ without any apparent damage, but the rev limiter makes life interesting in that range.

Well, I don't have a dizzy on mine so the mod would be interesting if I go down that track. What else have you done to it?

Has it made any difference to low end torque? May be without a dizzy, it would be easier for the computer to re-learn?

its got a real smooth idle and a little blip on the throttle is all thats needed. it pulls hard from about 2 grand to redline. Im sure sumethin like a msd ign controler could be used.

Change of a driver, previous owner never took it off road in the 2 years that he had owned it 8) 8)

Seriously though, I would say so far the suspension has made a huge difference particularly when I am disconnected in the front (through JKS discos). Also rear ARB bar has taken a lot of load off my tailgate (i.e. spare tyre), now my tailgate does not rattle or squeak anymore.

I have on order JB Conversion Super Shorty SYE and Tow Wood rear driveshaft. They should be shipped in a day or two, can't wait.

I am also almost in line for a 33 Engineering High Clearance transmission skid (about 3" improvement on stock) and GenRight gas tank skid (that gives me 1" more clearance). Waiting for pricing to confirm the order.

My accelerator is already very touchy, so a little more touchy response would actually be dangerous

Did you source the cam from Mopar locally or from US?

Well since I had managed to bend my stock transfer case output shaft on a recent "family" trip, I can't say that I like going over things better than through them!!! Oh well, great justification for upgrade in my case (my wife was on the trip with me, so she knows how it happened).

No problem, I do sometimes end up in Wellington (not in a Jeep - just using the big metal kite in the sky).
