Hey.

Ive got a honda motor bike engine and my brother seems to think its a honda ca175?? ever herd of it..
Well it dosnt spark and we think its because the coil ant hooked up right, So does any one have a wiring diagram for this motorbike or one simular for this engine.

Thanks

Check to dizzy on the left handside of the motor( back end of crank). They have a habit of breaking the incoming wires and mounting screws

motorbike coils often only have one LT wire - the second 'terminal' is the bracket where it bolts to the frame - make sure the frame and the bracket is clean and making good contact - also check and see if there is a small spark coming from the points when the open, which will tell you that the magneto coil is at least working.

The wiring on those older bikes is pretty simple - coils on a plate inside the flywheel, which has magnets on it - this produces the current to the coil and the points are just there to fire the coil.

Pull out the plug and hold it against the engine case to get the earth and kick it over - any spark at all? start tracing backwards - check the points are giving a lite spark (might need it in a dark garage to see it properly), then stick a voltmeter on the output of the coils and check for voltage (AC from the coils, DC after the rectifier if it has one).

Somewhere, something is not doing its job. also try removing the condesor to see if it makes it go - if thats gone short circuit then you won't get anything.

Oh, have a look here: http://oldmanhonda.com/MC/WiringDiagram ... .php#class there are a few wiring diagrams from old bikes there and it might help.
