Laurie Sanson - Round 3 - 10 Feb 2008 - Thames 4wd Club

When: Sunday 10th February, 2008
Time: 9:00 - Scrutineering.
9:30 - Drivers Briefing.
10:00 - Start!

Where: Keith Barriball’s Run-off, Dalgety Road off Kopuku Road, Maramarua.

Classes: A - Registered and Warranted, factory hard and soft top vehicles.
“No traction aids” (i.e. diff locks manual or auto)
A+ - Registered and Warranted, factory hard and soft top vehicles.
“Traction aids” (i.e. diff locks factory fitted or not)
Soft top vehicles must have a minimum of rear hoop and back stays
B - Four, six and eight cylinder production (re powers acceptable) open
diffs.
C - Non production and any vehicles with –
1. Diff lockers, Limited slip diffs and other traction aids.
2. Independent Brakes
3. Rear steer.
4. Agricultural Tyres. i.e. Tractor Treads.
Hand cut tyres are acceptable all classes A, A+, B and C)

Entry Fee: $5.00/driver
Definitely NO DOGS

you got your truck up and runing again? i'm tryn hard as to get my cruiser ready for this one :D hopefully we'll c a few more shineys there this round

me ?

yup...just have to get my drive shaft done (this week) and ill be taking it down to piopio as a support vehicle :wink:
have made a new improved diff brace over the weekend and thats all in and ready to test :twisted:

im hoping to NOT break anything at the thames round :roll: third time lucky ? :lol:

XJ , you would be in A+ . Wof with trackion aids .

The closest fun rally to home and its a 9 am start , sweet . Only 1/2 hour south of auckland , so be in .

Just for future reference...
If i had a samurai cut down from a hard top to a soft top (but just a little bit higher around the rear tray). But it was certed, wof'd and rego'd could I get away with being in A class? it has got a rollbar etc...

i will be at this one, it is the closest one for me only 250 odd ks from home :roll: , would be good to have some sort of central round of these fun trials.

ok lets set one up, by central i assume u mean central north island?
i got some land and could host one of the rounds.

i think there needs to be more events like the laurie sanson that bridge the gap up to national events.
because its aimed at fun and newcomers, and some people still travel a long way.
i reckon a 2nd go at all the hazzards, e.g split the feild into groups of 6, score each other, and every body goes threw a 2nd time...............justa thought

that sounds real good , i can get use of land down this way and probaly some of the stations around western side of taupo and may be landcorp, i will chat to a few people and pm you, could be good fundraising for local schools/groups which helps in getting venues.

back on topic here :roll:

managed to rumage out my old drive shafts from my parts pile :lol: and tryed them on the truck and they sorta fit :D so im gonna have spares with me this round :twisted: so hopefully ill do the whole day with 4 wheels driving :lol:

and im hoping my new rear axle brace prevents me from bending my springs even more :oops:

Sorry to be off topic but BoP club champs will start after easter & are a good intro to the trialling scene (rough trucks only)

Sorry to be off topic but BoP club champs will start after easter & are a good intro to the trialling scene (rough trucks only)

so just to double check cause its a long way to go, for this round my scudo with half cage and harnesses and fire ext is sweet to enter? i know ill be c class with locked diff but dont need anything else?,cheers

Assume you have decent hooks, and make sure things like battery is secure (that reminds me :roll: ), They "should" check steering has no excessive slop, and that there is brake pedal pressure. You would be suprised with some of the shitters that have turned up in the past.

im in ,just putting a spare front diff together and ill bring some cvs just in case, and some wire to cut out my screen just in case there is a small hicup like me ending up on my lid :lol: .

i just realised that is just up the road i drive on kopuku rd to get to work :D :D

so if i do this i need a helmet hmm um i think i have one somewhere
