Hilux 4y stuffed, rebuild, replace or conversion

Heres one for all you supra conversion gurus.
I have a douvle cab 4y hilux that has a sloppy wrist pinon number one cyclinder (i pulled the engine head last night).
My options are
1 rebuild the 4y - $450 for pistons etc plus some machining
2 i have been offed a free hiace motor, i am not sure if its a 3y or 4y yet
3 i have an auto cressida with 5m-e and also happen to have a w58 bellhousing.
option 2 is the cheapest option, i don't need another play truck so am not after a significant HP gain (already have FJ40 with holden 5l efi V8). this would most likely be the wifes runaround.
i have heard and read that to put the 5m-e in wouldn't be such a big drama. BUT what are the factors about the conversion that will trip me up, cost me money and time. and would it be worth it.
any help or guidance would be appreciated
