Diff compatability

I've found a 1990 2.4TD being parted out and am thinking of getting the diffs to use with 33's.
The diff code is G282.
What are the opinions on how this diff will fair between 33"MT's and a 1KZ/auto? (current diff is G294)
Would I be better off finding a 4 spider unit or are these strong enough?
Do the 1990 models have an ADD front?....if the answer to that is no, will the front diff still fit my truck?
Many thanks
PS: My truck is a 93 1KZ auto

Hey Mate.
G means 8"
28 is the ratio code, I cant remember if 28 is 4.3 or 4.8.
The final 2 means 2 pinion.
sorry if you allready know all that. What I can tell you is that i have run 4.3 ratio 2 pinion diffs in my comodore powerd 33" tyred lux with no dramas (I lie, no diff dramas) and that is with some fairly "enthusiastic driving"
4 pinion has got to be better, but if the g282 is the right price, go for it.
Arron.

Hey
Yeah already knew the coding on the diff's...just wondering more about the reliability of a 2 spider unit.
Think I'll keep looking for a 4 spider or slippery diff...just incase
Cheers

I run 33's on 4.1 Diffs with a manual 1KZ with no dramas , still lots of power low down, goes ok on the road, a little slower on take off. 5th Gear is a little less useful

I considered running 33's on the std diffs but as it tows the boat a lot, often a 200km round trip, I don't want to lose too much open road grunt.
And it's an auto which probably doesn't help...

i run4.8's n mine with 33's and it brings it back to standard gearing (same as on 29's) it makes a huge difference and will make your truck drive soo much better on the road. I went from 4.3 so if i where you i would be looking for 4.5's as they will fix the gearing and are way easier to find than 4.8's. Some 90's have add some dont but all the bits can be swapped. Much easier to find an add one though.

Just a note. 4.8s are easy to find. They are in just about every auto surf & V6
