Classic shot of Niblik, or should that be mudkissed?

Yes, a comment was made by the missus about that...
along the lines of "who the f#@* did that?"
but she's smiling, got her truck back in 1 piece, which I dont think she expected.....
She did warn me that if I messed up her truck, she was keeping my car till I got hers fixed.... needless to say I was VERY careful!!

Ugly is a state of mind..... and the state of my truck!
4x4BOY got stuck in the track by the open shingle area that has a lot of pine trees around, Daz tried to get in to get him out but got stuck too in the Pajero.
The alternator had died on the mu so the batt went flat making the winch no help, my alternator was stuffed too so I had to leave the mu at home.
We used a high lift jack as a winch to get daz free but in the process a crow bar that was in the mud went through the side wall of the r/rear tyre.
4x4boy was still stuck and had to call a recovery guy to come and get him out, I think he got out about 8.30 -9 pm.

Have you spoke to Matt yet, is everything OK?? Going out in minute to get my tyre sorted.
My misses is really.......really...........................................REALLY pissed off at me, been out twice with you guys for a FEW hours and both times come back in in the dark, and with vehicle damage. She just doesnt understand its part and parcel of 4WD

When I spoke to matt last night the vehicle was being taken to the recovery guys yard in Rangiora.
My wife was sitting in the car while we tried to get you and matt out and she wasnt over the moon either, but they will learn in time.

Keeping the handbrake happy is an essential component of 4wd maintenance ... schedule in a few 'picnic trips' every alternate run & take the kids (borrow some if none of your own; us ORE members with nippers are always happy to help out). This cunning plan helps to nurture their love of offroading, which then conspires to soften the impact of future delays and damages!!!

I'm hearing that!!!
All in all a great day out. Managed to kill my winch(nothing a couple of hours, a screwdriver and a can of CRC won't fix) in the middle of the muddiest wettest part of the track i could find, and when we were by ourselves!! Note to self...don't try anything stupid unless i'm with another truck!! Big thanks to those who pulled me out.
Also put another couple of dings in the truck (man some of those tracks are narrow!!) Trying to keep up with some of the more capable trucks is going to kill me and my truck
It was an excellent day out though.
With the drama 4x4boy had i think we need to get this 4wd recovery squad organised sooner rather than later. We had 12 trucks out there and 4x4boy still had to call a tow truck, hate to think what that ended up costing!!

Greetings fellers. Finally got home at about 10.30pm. Alternator died and unfortunately so did the starter. Bugger, not enough power to run the winch. We had Aaron (in his Territory), Daz and a friend I called in from Kaiapoi (standard road surf). No-one could budge me from where I was. Daz was the only truck that could even get to me. After losing a recovery strop (due to be replaced anyway) and Dazs tyre, had to resort to "Winch U", Shane. Had to wait another hour for him to arrive but got me out no trouble but not a cheap excercise ($280- Bugger). Only ORE number I had was Steve and his phone was turned off and no reply on any radio frequency. Oh well, Shit happens. Need that list of ORE numbers sorted. I gotta pick up the Mu from Rangiora tomorrow, Does anyone have a transporter that I could hire or borrow for a couple of hours? 021 502 344. Matt

Cheers Goose. I'll see if I can come up with a transporter first as it would be a bloody long tow with no power steering from Rangiora to Rolleston. I'll give you a call tonight if I need your help. Thanks again. Matt
