was pretty good a month ago on a rainy day, had a lot of small waterfalls off the cliffs, and a lot of water on the track but nothing that a surf on 32 muds even remotely got stuck in, at the top though theres a pretty big bog right in the middle, tried turning round and got pretty well stuck

Gunna head up the sissy side of thompsons track on Wednesday, anyone know what it's like at the moment? Went up there queens bday and was a bit too smooth( must have been graded not long before) the queen would have liked it, no stubbed toes on them corgies.

Sooo... Went up thompsons today, te aroha side is in good condition, quite slushy though, mud tires are probably wise! Went about halfway down the tough side then walked the rest to scope it out for a future expedition. Them some mega bogs!!! I can't fathom how anyone could possibly have a crack at it not fully prepared. I would thoroughly recommend anyone wanting to have a go at thompsons walks it first, gives you a good insight into how gnarly it actually is and what gear you'll need. Eg: today would have needed some serious digging tools to fix a sketchy little slip on a corner to get further than we did. Be prepared! Just like your scout leader used to say when you were at his house in his spa drinking beer.
