my mate Phil has done an awesome job so far and now its up to me to piece it back together, look for bits that went missing when the boys removed the motor and try to find out why it still smells like dead pigs/deer/dogs after countless hours of scrubbing

may check tomorrow to see if alternator is charging, but to be honest I'm too scared after all the other shit that has gone wrong since we started

oh well, onwards and upwards :D :D

Share the experience skid like you are bud. it's a problem halved when you do..
Together we'll get it up in running n smelling good for ya. Surely.

well we're almost there

Reece, Jerry, Pedro and Brent turned up to lend a hand.

Snorkel is now fitted and working well, aye Reece

Rear brakes work attempted, but we gotta do some hub seals and bearings first

Diffs and gearbox all filled up with oils again and then emptied, due to rear diff needing the above mentioned bits

Lights, grille, horn, bonnet catch etc etc all bolted back in place and operational.

still farting around with some interior bits before seats go back in and then some minor things here and there and its on the road again.

:D :D :D :D :D

we're nearly there, few drinks, BBQ and some work done on sunday..............

Image

Image

Image

Image

then last night, the boys were back for drinks, fish n chips and we're very close to having all finished............

Image

but, whilst we were standing around looking at it at some stage, it decided it had gotten tired and decided it didn't want to rest on a jack and axle stands anymore............

Image

Image

so here we are nearly done. the 33s are back on, just gotta fill up rear diff again, bleed brakes, put an exhaust flange gasket in and sort out interior.

Luckily the power steering came right after a top up and a bleed.......

Image

Image

gotta sort out a whole new exhaust at some stage, coz the massive rock in the river dealt to mine and have decided to put some sort of paint onto floor to tidy it up and get rid of the dead pig/deer smell by replacing it with fresh paint smell

Hey if you got that thing finished by Sunday afternoon do you reckon you could squeeze 30 something boxes of piss, a 1kva generator to replace the one that blows up TV's and fluro lights, a replacement TV, some replacement fluro light fittings, a large red chillybin and about a weeks food into the back?

I remember reese having a run in with the snorkle, like putting hand over the top and rev the motor, the snorkle must be sealed going by the loud bleating when the vacuum kicked in

righto, so I shot into stinky bar works yesterday to get my long term temporary exhaust welded on..............

Image

you'd be amazed how much more snot you can get out of a diesel turbo when ya chuck a snorkel on and take most of the restrictive exhaust out. it hauls arse now.

have driven it 3 times now and its developed a screeching noise that comes and goes at times from the rear end, so today I tried using the handbrake whilst driving and it makes the noise go away, so I got home to check out what the faaark was going on, and ya wouldn't bloody believe it, but the curse of the damned 80 hasn't finished with poor skiddy yet
now gotta take bits back to shop on monday and ask the question.............

WTF   they are brand new handbrake shoes for faaarks sake..............

shoes de-laminated, happens a fair bit bro, nothing strange there, you may have had it a little tight on her adjustment side causing slight rubbing while driving = exess heat and de-lam... but yea go back to shop and get new set

regards to getting on the road, grats mate, tis a good feeling eh!! what size zaust pipe is it? did you go from the flexi at the front?

has any of the boys down there tweaked it for you yet?
If you already know everything, DON'T ask bloody questions!!
