Re: 23rd /25th
had a mint weekend, drove up to 90 mile beach on Friday, stayed at Waipapakauri for the weekend.
Drove up to the top on Saturday and down Te Paki stream and the beach.
Then on Sunday, met up with the boys from the Whangarei Off-Road Club and hit a few wicked tracks with them, through some forestry tracks and over some wicked sand dunes up there just south of Ahipara/Kaitaia. Will try get some pics up soon. Probably my best weekend off-roading so far!!

Re: 23rd /25th
Had an awesome weekend in Rotorua chillin out, mountain biking, hiking, bit of bush bashing in the truck.
Ive got the 97 edition of Andy Cockrofts North Island 4wd book, and figured id try Mt Tarawera and Rainbow Mt tracks. Id already heard Mt Tarawera was closed but figured it was worth a look but signs confirmed it. Really pisses me off that some people spoiled that for everybody else - woman at the info centre said people left rubbish everywhere etc. Do 4wd clubs ever get access to go up there? Min price you have to pay is $130 to get up there legally.
After this its hardly surprising to me to find the Rainbow Mt Forest all gated up/huge rocks blocking 4wd tracks. At least you can legally walk to the top of this one (mean views!) but of course id rather drive it.
Def makes me realise I need to use what we have while its available. I bet in another 10 years a whole bunch more places will be lost, sucks but probably true. I must go see if Andy has released a newer version of the book - I bet its half the size.
On a positive note now that the bighorn boost 12psi it pulls 5th gear up the bombay hills easy

Re: 23rd /25th
went to raglan friday afternoon and stayed at the mrs parents place. had a swim etc.
Drove to auckland and spent saturday night at the duxton hotel. Got drunk.
Drove back to raglan and stayed at the mrs parents place again. Borrowed their kayak on monday and spent a few hours paddling around. Took the dog out too which was fun.
Also installed my safari's manual hubs.

Saw your tracks there. Funny really, I drove that track too, in 2wd by mistake.
What a play ground
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!
