Broke shit:

got snatched into an immovable object sideways hard enough to push a 35psi inflated tyre off the rim
Image

Which "moved" the upper and lower control arms, along with the shock:

Image

Which in turn continued up the drivetrain:
Image

Guessing at.... $1000-1500 for transfer case, $800 for control arms and $150 for the shock. Refab lower bracket, change all the innards (shorty SYE) to replacement case... another say $500.00

Theres a lot to be said for snatching a person in a straight line.

I was stuck in a long bog hole, 2ft sides on it. There was a small hole dead ahead as a part of another little hazard. (the same one i had backed into earleir while gently pulling another truck out of the same spot n which i was stuck) and the snatcher decided that he didnt want to go there, instead headed left, at full tilt, twice, hard enough to do the tyre damage as pictured. Unfortunately my yelling (out drivers side door) wasnt heard. By the time his co-ey decided i wasnt going anywhere it was a tad too late, like, red oil in the muddy water too late. I contemplated throwing a wobbly and tossing the helmet, but it wasnt going to solve anything, and probably would have put a bit of a bad light on the whole event esp to the watchers on the hill.

Ah well, shit happens. Onwards and upwards. Ill be talking to the insurance co tomorrow.

Well, IAG are a bunch of fuktards, Ill not dwell on that though.
Picked up a t/c to replace my shattered one, as part of a burn out that i bought for $150.00. Straight tub and windshield surround, stock cage in there (to be modified for another little possible project) front and rear diffs/axles, block, manual tranny, driveshafts and my much sought after transfer case. Damn site cheaper than $1200 2nd hand for a t/c or $2600 from wingers for just a t/c shell!!!

Rather than buying new adjustable bottom arms, Im getting some fixed length ones made (hopefully for about $200.00) dropped the old, rooted, procomp ones off today to be copied and improved, my replacement shock will be $120.00................... $470.00 + oils and my time, end of the day it turned out to be a pretty cheap freaking freak up.

Oh, and I just won $837 on lotto strike tonight.... amazing how shit just balances out sometimes. (damn that 21 should have been a 33!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

pulled the transfer case out of the donor truck, popped the front end back in with the repaired and reinforced upper control arms and the new lower arms and shock. Took the skid plate off ready to attack the broken transfer case tomorrow. Hopefully i can get it all to a point where i can just slip the new one back in during the week and back on the road.

How did you get on XJ? Out of nowhere, someone bought my spare TJ transfer case. Just the two halves of the case. Was it you via Greg i wonder?

Is that something you did yourself, or did you get it done commerically. I have a few rust spots on the floor that I need to tidy up but the rhino spray might be a better idea over all.

I wish I could do it lol, had some guys in chch next to the sockburn round about, they do panel beating, I hear there is another product around from aussie as well, but not sure what it's called, they did a great job, sanded the paint back, treated the rust and sprayed it on, its 1.5 mm thick and makes it easy to keep clean
