The darkness of night swiftly gathered around us, silently stalking our small crew, hungrily swallowing the last remaining light and casting menacing shadows in the dimness of the mud filled headlights as I gingerly eased my now badly battered Safari over the point of no return, deep down into the Rock Garden.
14hrs of labour had bought us to this point. Fatigue was showing in everyone's faces. Determination and love of adventure fuelling the drive to carry on forwards.
Adrenalin cursed through my veins as I eased over the crest and the lights came down to bear at the same angle as the decent. My wheels were confirmed as being where they were supposed to be by a shout and a thumbs up from a helpful shadow in the trees. This was it. I was committed. My passenger announced she was going to close her eyes as her fingers engaged the passenger side dashboard grab rail in a deathly grip. I was busy wondering if there was I slim chance I could do the same……………………………...
