it's a special gun that screws onto the liner bottle. will ask what it's called for ya.
An Underseal Gun, not overly expensive. A friendly painter will lend you one. Just looked up that Raptor Liner, $299 a kit.

Re: LJ Project Sandy
Is there any noticeable difference between the hippo and raptor products? Or are they basically the same?
tomsoffroad wrote:None of us know what we are doing really. But thats how you get experience.
Re: LJ Project Sandy
Raptor liner is a 2 pak Eurethane based liner. We chose it because it is a superior product to Hippo liner. You only get one go at this stuff, once it's on it's on, so the extra expense is worth it for the right product.
You have to do the correct prep to the surface though, it needs to be really clean and etch primed other wise it will just peel off, or bubble if there is rust under it etc etc
I did the entire underside of Wombat in it. Think I've used 4L of it so far
The spray gun is called a Shultz Gun.
Looking good man, your just managing to stay ahead
You better get your sanding arm rested, you gotta stil go over the whole truck at least 3 more times before the top coat goes down.
Sand the epoxy, 200 and then 400 on the high build. Yay

Haha I'm my own worst enemy when it comes to sanding back to metal. I shouldn't be allowed near factory paint with 60grit.
Still got to prep the doors , inside of Bonnet , other side of the windscreen and tail gate .
Then sort the hinges and gear stick surrounds. hope I've got enought 2pac primer.
will proborby try and get the majority of the prep done this week and hit the high build next weekend .....
masking out the interior is going to be a royal biarch
front section of chasis is screaming for attention whille the clip is off as well.

Re: LJ Project Sandy
Progress has been slack
Brought a Zuk only trailer last week

then neglected the LJ and spent the whole weekend doing skids on the rev limiter in the SJ
But work progresses.Inner Bonnet, other side of the windscreen and gear stick covers all stripped , prepped and painted.
Crappy phone photos in bad light.

Only the part of the tail gate and doors to do
But will have to call on the friendly paint man, to order more 2pac primer . I think I might have been putting it on a little thick.

Well you can't say something like that without putting up video
Re: LJ Project Sandy
I'll sort the vid out, I still haven't fixed movie maker on my PC
Was good fun, monster bonfire, exploding spray cans, ghey fire works, off road racing on 1.5k paddock track after a light shower of rain and the Weapon got its first drive for maybe 9months??.
Sandy looks awesome, its going to be too shiny and bling to use
I better get off my arse and do some work on mine, your getting ahead again

DB's inspiration has keept me sanding all weekend
I still hate it imensely , but it's a million times easier than sanding rust.
I got the front clip seam sealed and 90% sanded up with 280
Bonnet and windscreen frame all done with 280 and they got a coat of 2pac high build primer this evening.
I'm very happy with how the bonnet is looking.
just waiting for the high build to dry and it's back to sanding agian.

no photos as its piontless photographing dust.

Re: LJ Project Sandy
another weekend of Sanding.
leaper Doors

leaper Tail Gate .

Got them done up in 2pac primer cutoisty of the LJ network
.
Fixed the bonnet bracing back in place with Eurathane and then got primitive on it. has also had its first coat of black paint - Scheduled for its second tonight.

Also got the Front clip fully prepped and a coat of High Build primer on it.

Then went to pick-a-part and spent all sunday afternoon swearing at an old rusty SJ410
But scored a full set of self adjusting rear brakes ,some new front leaf springs and another spare Dizzy for the LJ.

Re: LJ Project Sandy
work has been progressing
the breaks were terrible on my last test drive so I pulled the rear apart and found totally seized wheel cylinders

A while ago i had scored some self adjusting rear breaks off a SJ410

the all important self adjuster

So I pulled out the rear diff , and gave it a coat of insta bling .

Painted up under the rear wheel arches and chassis I could get to

Pulled the axles , were in remarkably good shape .

reassembled with new backing plates , and insta blinged the Springs and shackles.

and reassembled the rear breaks

Since then I have been trying to get the front drums off to assess and adjust the front breaks
3m long power bar , lots of heat and CRC ......... but the main 36mm nut will not release at all. So it look like ill be proceeding with the front break upgrade sooner than expected.

I can happily confirm the LJ will do well over 80km/hr
not that I was happy at that speed. 50km road test last night.
