Yeah, it went bloody good, the lack of LSD/locker only showed itself a couple of times.........

Thanks for the ideas on the starter, I'll give it a go when I get some time on friday

Success!!!!

Found the problem with the starter. H2O and I went through the wiring, (is there anything that man cant do??!!) and discovered that the power was getting from the key all the way to a funny relay that had all sorts of wierd wiring, just short of the starter.......

Finally sussed it out. When we put the 2lt into the 2l body, we took the 2lt engine bay wiring and left the 2l engine wiring. We then sort of mixed and matched until we had 1 wiring loom. The 2lt had a dual battery setup, and it appears that there needs to be an extra relay in the starter circuit. We noticed that the power fed to the starter, back to the relay, then back to the starter. But the 2l just went from power to the starter. (I had the old 2l starter with wiring attached :wink:

) Changed it to that, and bob's your auntie's live-in lover!!

We also started sorting the rear bar, I'm pretty sure we know where we're going with that, I'll post more when we do it........ :wink:

Well, got stage 1 of the rear bar sorted. Had to laugh when we saw steve's mounting system for the rear bar of a surf was virtually identical :lol:

At least that means we were on the right track :wink:

We're gonna add some side bars next, I just wanted to get it on so I had a tow-hook....

not the best pic, but shows the very similar mounting plate inside the rear chassis

We found that the tow-hook touches the rear door when fully lowered, so the next step is to cut and bend the mounting plate (for the hook) down so I can use my "table" for cooking lunch :wink:

Gotta have your priorities sorted :lol:

Had a mission at the workshop, all done and dusted by 02:15!!! Gotta be a record for us time wise.......... :shock:

Well!! Time for an update.......

Guess what we did last night?

COON SPRINGS!!!!!!!!

Thought we'd check the flex...... :wink:

We found that the tyre binds up on the inside of the wheel well, so a wide axle conversion is the next mission.... oh, and the rear springs in the front..... oh, and the high steer.....oh, and new shocks.... (Oh crap, I've got some work to do....... :shock:

Well.......

we've only got the wide axle, u-bolt flip, rears in front, high steer, new front driveshaft, and new shocks to fit, so how about tomorrow? :shock:

Well, that's a real sticky point.... I havn't decided yet, but I've been told commonwhore (sorry, commodore

) shocks are a cheap option, and corolla shocks, rangerover..... I think at the end of the day, I'm gonna look for some cheapo's that do the job and slap them in! One thing I'm gonna do is (all scientific like!! :shock:

) measure how much travel I get, then find something to suit. The easiest option, of course, is to buy brand new ones, but that sounds like spending money, and that's bad! :lol:
