Excellent day out. Thanks Jerry for organising the trip. The Whale went around all day with the handbrake on........... the steering wheel! I didn't do a minute of driving today, she did it all.
There were a couple of heart stoppers today thanks to greamec and Sadam_Husain. Graeme came close to a nasty fall, but Sadam takes the cake on getting as close to the tipping point as you possibly could. I was right in front of it and it was on two wheels for a very long time before coming back down on three.
Anyway, here's a couple of interesting photos. The rest can be found at http://www.offroadexpress.co.nz/modules ... _album.php
Good views
Tell him he's dreaming
Even Marty got stuck in there and had to be dug out (literally)
The whale got a good workout
Sadam's truck monstered anything it got thrown at
And Cloggy's got very wet

Unfortunately the battery died early on so there isn't a lot of interesting footage.

I am spending this evening stripping out the interior to get all the wet carpets out.
My truck must weight near 4 tonnes at the moment. Man that underfelt / sound deadener is heavy when it is waterlogged.
At least it will be spik and span again when I am finished waterblasting the mud out of the carpets (and the 6 stacker CD unit, silly place for them under the front seats).
My cell phone took a dip too, but amazingly it still works, I should have taken some pics of the muddy water inside that.
All good fun though, won't stop me trying that bog again next time.

80 series tow bus towing a redneck ass vitara

From a Trip leading perspective it went really well, we had a range of vehicles and driver experience. The convoy kept together well, everyone kept an eye on everyone else going thru hazards. thanks to Handbrake/Mark, Graeme & Saddam who took up leading the convoy/tail.
I can run another 'shiny' trip like this in 8 or so weeks if there is interest, This one will be in a different area, be kid/family friendly and involves exploring some tunnels so bring your torches.
PS This will be a normal trip...not a fundraiser
