Charging with dual batteries

Post by 94PRADO »

Hi

I have a 94 Prado with the dual battery set up, its 12 volt. I wanted to get a solar battery charger such as: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Business-farmi ... 834960.htm
Can anybody see any problems with hardwiring it in? Im wondering if it will charge both the batteries evenly or one more than the other?

Thanks
Nick

has it got the factory twin battery system , with both batteries wired up in parallel, or an after market dual battery system?

if its factory you should be able to attach the charger to one battery and it would charge both as they are connected in parallel

With an aftermarket system , I would connect at the feed from the alternator. then it would charge the start battery first then the 2nd battery.

hope this helps
