Thought id start a bit of a project post here to keep track of what ive done and to get more ideas and suggestions to help me from people in the know.
Pretty much just want to drive through bush and over beaches and go camping and hunting in remote places to get away from the town and things like that. Not really want to get into the hardcore scene or competitions with this truck but maybe will build one for that in the near future
Got my hands on a bj74 1988 toyota landcruiser mwb with the 13bt engine in

This is her as I bought her

After its first run out waiuku. Had De-bumpered it in preperation for pto winch. Had also put 2inch spacers behind the wheels to give better stability worked wonders. ( they are now for sale if interested).
First things first, it was overheating slowly when going up hills ie bombays etc. So pulled radiator out, had it flushed and re-welded and also replaced the viscous fan. While i was at it new belts and all the leaking water hoses etc. still goto give it a good run to see if this fixed it all.
Brakes were in dire straights of repair. so went through the whole system, new master cylinder, resealed front calipers as they were leaking, replaced front rotors and pads as they were fucked. Then replaced rear drums, brake cylinders and brake shoes. bled system and now they are so much beter. Just the handbrake cable keeps jumping off guide in rh drum because guides broken so will need to sort that out again.

After this I picked up a complete pto winch set up and winch bullbar. I could only get a hold of some 60 series chasis extentions so after hours of modifying these to suit and making new brackets and mounting plates to mount winch drum, winch fairleads and winch bumper. so now its all sitting in place. changed the winch oil. now just got to mount control lever and the driveshaft. its all off a manual so may need some modifications to mount to auto trans etc and prob extend driveshaft and make brackets for hanger bearings, just goto get some time.

next step was bought a pair of front and rear cable diff lockers complete with axles drive yokes etc. So pulled all the front and rear apart, replaced diff heads with lock diff heads and other axles and drive yokes. wired up all the warning lights and put it all back together with new oil. took them for a test run out poutu over long weekend, they really made a difference. just need to redo the front warning wiring as whenever i went through water in got into the plug and the light would stay on.

then got my hands on some 33x12.5x15 inch mud tyres pretty much brand new. thew came with tractor tubes and on 15x10 inch white spoke rims which meant they stick out further for wider stability and meant I didnt need the wheel spacers anymore. now alot more fun in the mud to come.

And this is how she stands at the moment as of last weekend. hopefully will put in a suspension lift kit, probably get a set of all terrains for the road and the beach and just slowly work on it and improve it bit by bit.
would welcome any ideas or suggestion
