I've been doing a bit of research but need some clarity. When manufacturing bumpers the mounting plate should be a 10mm thickness where the bumper itself should be a 4 mil diameter. Would the 4mm be suitable to mount hooks on? Would the same materials be used for sliders?
Any help would be great!

First off what are you putting it on? I personally think 4mm is too thin to mount tow hooks on, Id be worried about it tearing out. 10mm is ok for mounting points to the chassis tho

It's for a LWB 88 trooper. So then you are saying 10mm for the mounting brackets as well as hooks. Manufacture some sort of box using 10mm and 5 mm for the bar across the fender.

It depends entirely on the design of the bumper and how good you are really. Its scary how much load is put on thin metal with factory tow hooks (then they tear out though)
If you use 5mm plate and get the sheet all bent up nicely by a professional you can have areas overlap where you need extra strength.
