Open ended snorkel?

How do you guys not running snorkel hats get on with rain etc? ie. top of snorkel tube bent backwards level with the roof line. I presume the air cleaner would provide some means of water seperation anyway unless the outlet is on the bottom. Just trying to plan out how I'm going to lay out the tube to make mine. Only thing I found on my old safari, although the hat does a good job of seperating water out, it tended to like getting hooked up on branches, vines, and anything else hanging at roof height
