LN130 Solid Axle Conversion
LN130 Solid Axle Conversion
HI, new to this forum but have some questions you may be able to help with.
I have a Petrol V6 4Runner LN130 and am looking at converting to a solid front axle. I would like to do this with a coil over suspension setup and am wondering if anyone has done this before and if so whats the best way to go about it? What hilux diff should I use? Spring and shock setup? steering etc
It appears to be relativley straight forward, remove all IRS and chassis mounts, get shock / spring mounts welded in, control arms welded in, and set up steering off the standard box. Am i being a little fortuitous in thinking this?
I am also looking at replacing the transfer case with a gear driven one with PTO, do these exist for the R150F boxes?
Any help would be much appreciated.
PS. A Lexus V8 is going in at the same time!

What ever you can find if you have options generally later model the better ... there is little to no differance between them just a little extra bracing on the later models diff heads (thirds) are universal
Spring and shock setup?
Most people who go coil generally find a solid axle coil setup like the range rover and just pinch the coils arms and what ever else they can get.... my sugestion if this is you first time doing something like this to do it on leaf springs you generally get better road manors with this have a look here
Conans Project
As for shocks your gona want an adjustable shock longer travel the better I'm using Rancho 9000 but there are cheaper options out there
steering etc
Use your standard steering box to run X-over steering
Project Lemon
As for the box I don't think the cruiser transfers will bolt on to that box  I do know the lux ones won't they are a 21 spline your box is a 23 spline output

Good idea doing the Lexus swap at the same time.
The SAS and repower will both be easier with everything out.
You could look at getting a Prado coil front end, if you get a front chassis cut you would be able to use the frame rails to work out mount points to ensure the geometry is correct.
Good luck, can't wait to see the pics!
Matt.

hey i just starting coil d sas project on mine surf too but keeping the v6 init and not doing coil overs..
so far i have 4.88 diffs frnt nd bck
hilux axle
pajero control arms
rangie coil buckets
i'd stay away from a prado front end.. unless u have loads of money to spend on it.
will let you know how i get on as things progress

some good ideas dudes..
re, the pto cruiser box is an issue for the simple reason the cruiser transfer output(rear)t is offset opposed to the lux being central, this can be solved by runing a cruiser/prado coil rear end (offset obviously).
for the front end conversion ,i agree with the coils but its quite a job ...you can use rangie ,prado or engineer youre own stuff ,to keep it cheap go rangie but if you see a cheap cruiser/prado front and arms etc grab em !!!
and remember using a hilux soild front from a ute etc youle need to space the track another 25m.m to suit the surf wider rear..
whens it end...

Album name doesnt give the album a title, just names it in the address of the album. Album title is the one to use. have named it for you. you can also find it in the album properties, all under the admin menu.
