COMPRESSOR INFO!!!!

Hey there has anyone heard of or utilised the PROJECTA,TYPHOON,600WATT 150PSI,TWIN CYLINDER COMPRESSOR,
this unit has been advertised in some of the trucking mags for a while,getting great reveiws.This unit is 12 volt with a steel lined bore and is apparently quite popular in the heavier industry.
BUT can it handle the 4x4 world of abuse?.
I currently utilise the projecta 1600 amp jump start unit and is fantastic,a far site better than the cheaper crap on the market!!!

So any feedback would be appreciated!!!

wewll, that didnt take long!!!

Rip every poor c**t off, or REPCO had 'em on special a while back,
Narva (AKL the Brown and watson ppl) reckon $292.00 will get one retail. buggers wouldnt deal direct with me, so its Repco or Repco!! or see you friendly auto elec fellers too.

BEN!!!! what about that sheila you got trained to give you discounts?

Hey Bob ive got a supplier of them and they can do me a fairly mean deal almost have the retail price,
A mate and I tested the specs on one today and they were spot on,can pump a 33x12.5x15 up from 0-30 psi in less than 3 mins,not bad!!!
they are steel sleeved,run at 150L/min producing 150 psi with a 600watt magnetic motor.
Dont really think I could get a better deal anywhere,what yas reckon?....

Has anyone attempted to make a portable compressor utilising a suitable 12v electric motor and ac pump. I realise it would be a bit bulky and heavy, but if you could get the spin rate (rpm) up with reasonable power behind it, should work really good.
If you only use the air at standstill, another option which i have used, is to make a quick disconnect mount for for the ac pump at the front crossmember and drive it off the spare pulley that is invariably available at the front of the crank.
Can only be used while standing still, but we used to pump up 8 35" tyres from 10lb to 40 lb in around 10mins. Also used it to reset a tyre on the bead after rolling it off.

They look like the ones they have at super cheap but twin piston.
We have a single piston super cheap one which we use for our lockers (use rollbar as air tank) which looks and has the same specs as the Projecta storm http://www.projecta.com.au/catalogue/ci ... set_id/145, it is really slow at pumping up tyres (35" tyre from 8psi) and gets really hot aswell. Its fine for lockers but we only use it if we have to for tyres. It also struggles to pump higher than 100psi.

The typhoons flow rate is twice as much but may get hot and struggle to pump up over 100psi like the single piston one.

I tried one in the hole where the airbox WAS, fits too.
All I gotta do is save up money.

Monday, I am gonna get cheeky an ask if there is a discount for a bulk deal.... Means all you guys will have to front up with even more munny... Interested in my persuing this?

Repco, (local branch) has offered me a deal of $200 EACH for six or more.
Would have to add freight of course.

This is the pump in question.

Does your mate have lots etc, or is this a one-off deal?

Mine is for as many as we want over 6 units.

I am prepared to broker the deals and ship on if enuff confirmed interest.

bob, the $186 is for one off purchase. (he's only got 2 at the mo, one for Dix and one for me, if the wife will let me!) They can get as many as we want. Appco/Repco give us a great trade discount, which may even be less than $186. Might just have to look into it tomorrow.

I certainly cant beat that,. Now to work on the Siwsan cos I got this HUGE vacant space where the airbox used to be, and a burning desire to fill it up with something useful

SOO the uposhot is, forget my offer,m I cannot get them to better that deal.

Thats cheaper than what this particular supplier was going to do it for through the company ($178+gst), as soon as i mentioned it was for a 4x4 club (even though I'm not a member) he dropped it immediately to the above $175.00, that's for one, or for 10........

However, that price is for us to get them in Hamilton. If they were wanted by blokes from farther afield than the greater Waikato/Naki/BOP/Auck area then there would probably have to be freight charges.

Smurfs price in the previous post would probably work out the same, if not better, in the long run.

Perhaps the ORE hierarchy could approach Repco with a National deal for supply, therefore saving freight charges to members across the country.

The $175 I came up with is through a supplier, which is tied in with Repco. (same parent company or something like that, Ive bought stuff from these guys before and they take my money in their till and walk down the road to repco and return with the goods, so not entirely sure how it works, but it does.)

Food for thought for future supply of other bits and pieces on a national basis maybe? Like I said, I'm not a member, but happy to help where possible.

yeah nah, it was via one of the managers in Appco... and he's long gone. I just get the dirtly old supercheap ones if Im in need.
