Hold / Power switch.....huh?

Post by nickmcdonald »

Hi all. Ive always wondered what that little Hold / Power switch does on my R50 Terrano. Ive never really tried it out.....not properly anyhow. Im assuming that on the Power setting, it lets the engine rev out higher? My transmission shifts at a strict 3900rpm, no matter how hard your foot is buried or how much load is on the engine (hill, towing etc).

And Im guessing the Hold button would keep with transmission in gear as opposed to swapping up a cog? So when towing up a hill, pulling some healthy, grunty revs, you'd slap HOLD on to stop the auto swapping up a gear and you losing your momentum right?

Cheers guys!

HOLD disengages the kick down switch on the accelerator and cause the trans to take off in 2nd.
