D21 Terrano, fast idle after turning fuel screw
Hi all, turned the pump up a touch in the terrano and got a faster idle, trouble is the idle screw wont back it up, ie its not touching the stopper, is there something im missing? also it drinks like a fish 350-400km out of a tank,(70L?) I thought these were ok on fuel? yep its auto

I suggest you do a little search here on the forums. simbianmud(i think) has a thread /pictures on the TD27 non eti pump with an explaination of which screws do what and where to put them.
Waiter...there is a drought in my glass.

Thanks but that post doesn't really cover the procedure for cranking up the fuel. I turned the screw below the banjo fuel inlet(also bleed screw) had an ass of a time getting the screw cover cap off and getting something on the 13mm locknut, screwed in 1/3 turn, still seems to be burning it all, was incredibly lean prior to adjustment. Does go a fair bit better, but still considerably slower than my 4jh1tc 3.0 rodeo ute(gutless for a 3.0 IC diesel)
Re: D21 Terrano, fast idle after turning fuel screw
Hand throttle cable travel preventing full return and/or the spring won't return enough.

I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

Yeah good thinking, looked at that and backed it off slightly, but doesn't appear to be that, even pushing against throttle assembly on IP by hand its bloody hard to get it back against the idle screw stopper, did you find you had to pull your idle down when you cranked up your truck sibainmud?
Re: D21 Terrano, fast idle after turning fuel screw
Yeah shyt yeah. I normally adjust screw with truck running until idle about 1200rpm then have to work out a way of returning the throttle arm back to idle. I find that both cables limit the travel that far. I have adjusted the cable trunnions (nuts) to give as much slack as poss. Totally disconnected the hand throttle and put washers under the lower pedal box mounting bolts to tilt the top arm of the pedal toward firewall to give a few more mils of travel on the cable. Mine still only returns to 900rpm normally but by lifting the pedal with my foot can get it back to low idle speed.
