Suzuki auto options

Post by NuSkewdy »

Hi Guys, do you know what models of auto's there are and how interchangeable they are?

i.e. 3 speed auto, 3 speed with O/D, 4 speed etc..

Also, on the suzuki automatics, the gear-locking thing on the gear lever doesn't work. Meaning you can select any gear incl Reverse and Park while the car is sitting still - or driving! Hmm...

Any idea how the gear-selection lock thing works - it has a button on the side but doesn't seem to do anything :? . Is there a quick check&fix I can do to make it safe(r) ?

Yeah... Sorted the gear lever thing. The screw that holds the hand-hold lever was screwed in too far. Hmm.. simple fix. But would like to know about the auto models and which ones could be swapped over..

I'm guessing you mean for a Vitara/Escudo? The two options are 3 speed and 4 speed o/drive, but they aren't directly interchangeable as the o/d box needs the ecu from the 16v injected engine to operate. Same goes for the auto from the late Jimny's. I have heard, but don't quote me, that the Holden trimatic will fit. Maybe someone else can confirm?

Has anyone out there done a changeover to a box with O/D on a non-16 Vave motor?
