Breather hoses

Post by spankmeister »

Sorry if this sounds like a silly question, but, do the transfer case and gearbox on an 85 LN65 lux have breathers (that can be extended)? The reason I ask, is that I changed the oil in the transfer case today, and it was like pouring a milkshake. Obviously its got water in the oil, but I couldn't find anywhere where a breather could be mounted, same for the gearbox. Thats sort of left me wondering how the water got in there to start with.

Cheers

the seals around the gear lever and transfer lever can let in water if not sealed up . My last truck had shocking seals when I bought it, two trips and the oil was stuffed, bought new seals and a tube of sealant, didn't leak after that. never had breathers though so I can't help you there. :(
