anyone got a pilot bearing puller in Chch ( free beer ) ???
I yanked my gearbox last weekend to replace my clutch , to find my multi-mass flyweel has 3 buggered springs out of 4 , pilot bearing stuffed ,etc . So after getting my part's & try'n to get this stuffed pilot bearing out of then end of the crankshaft , the outer race is left in the crank after try'n heaps to get it out ( only have basic hand tools here in chch ) !
if anyone has a puller or knows a different way to get it out without damaging the crank , etc & lives in Chch & can pull it out for me , then I will get you a 12 or more carton of beer ( export , spieghts , etc ) ??????????
Cheers
Rick

No, it srinks, if you heat metal above a certain temp it expands then it shrinks to a smaller mass than it was before you heated it.
Because the bearing is tight in the crank ,it cannot expand, so the shrinking efect is greater.
The only problem is being able to weld on to the bearing race without welding on the crank shaft.
AN EX WELDER.
