Surf on 33's

Post by 2MEKE »

I intend to put 33's (Wrangler MTR's or similar) on and want to know what everyones thoughts are as to diff ratio...will 4.3's be enough or will I need to go to 4.56's (currently 4.1's + 1KZ)??

It's mainly used to pull the boat so doesn't get the hardest time offroad. Probably the toughest it gets is 4x4 wise is pulling the boat back over the odd sand dune or roughish tracks out to the coast round Northland to launch...

My intention is to do a 2" bodylift...will that be enough or will it need a suspension lift too?

Got the parts needed to intercool so that'll happen at the same time.
Currently gathering all the bits so I can do all the mods at once then have it certed.

Any other suggestion greatly appreciated.

Just did exactly what your talking about.

I did 2" body lift. then put 33's on. I would say you would get away with possibly some slight rubbing every now and again but for what you want it would be perfect.

Without suspension lift:

with 2" suspension lift:

if you go the 2" suspension lift youll need to wind those torsion bars up but be warned as soon as you do that you loose drop ie they will only have about 45mm of drop if you raise 35mm in the front instead of 2". What happens then is that wheel will spin very easy causing loss of traction and then diff breakages (weak 7.5" diff in the front of surfs). This doesnt bother me so much as I have a front locker making this a non issue for me.

Cheers
