cruiser electrics
cruiser electrics
to start with I brought my self a turbo 60 series, any just a few small things to work out.
My central locking is playing up, I reset the circuit breaker but that didn't work, I can hear the solenoid in the rear door working and it unlocks the rear door but wont lock the rear door or lock\unlock any other door.
and on a side note, what is it that goes wrong with the electric window switches, I robbed one out of a rear door to get the front passengers window working.
Any help would be appreciated, Matt

The usual problem with the window switches is the contacts burn up and don't work correctly.
There is a thread on here somewhere complete with pictures on how to do it.
Take the switch out and I have found that a sheet of newspaper spread on the bench is a good place to work. Gently pry the switch apart, some the back comes off others the rocker comes out the front.
Watch out for the little springs and contacts that will try and head for the open spaces.
Clean up the moving and fixed contacts and reassemble.
I have at times swapped the contacts from the drivers window switch with one of the back ones when they are badly worn.
They should both still work when you have finished.
The first thing I would check is the switch in drivers door, Then the lock controller, the easiest way to check the controller is to swap it out with a known good one.

There is no mechanical problem so difficult that it cannot be solved by brute strength and ignorance.

I have in the past also used one of those grey "sandy type" pensil erasers to clean sensitave contacts, then clean any residue away with contact cleaner.
yea I still need to get in and clean them better but its working most of the time for the moment

replace thermostat
Replace reading glasses.
Hey Badnuz.
On the climbing temp and fuel gauges. My VX60 would do this now and again. Gives you a hell of a fright. Its the two top guages I think. Never worked out what was doing it. I though it was moisture getting in the back there somewhere. Never solved it and it hasn't done it for 3 years or so.
May have just dried out. I used to do some silly things in the Waimak that had water up under the dash.
